The 2014 Compulsory Judges Cup completed both competition and evaluation sessions in Birmingham (Alabama Starz) and Montgomery (Armory) this weekend. Both sites had over 300 gymnasts participating. The meet was a week earlier than normal because of the dates set for the USA Gymnastics National Congress in Pittsburgh being held on the usual weekend for the Judges Cup. Allie Segrest gave a wonderful talk on gymnastics from her perspective as a recent athlete and now a current coach. Her words rang with wisdom and great advice to the gymnasts in attendance.

Brooke Kelly from Mountain Brook Gymnastics was recognized as the National JO Champion on Uneven Bars, an honor she earned at the Jo Nationals in Jackson, MS in May.

Special tribute was paid to our outgoing State Chair, Deb Walls, as she is leaving that position after 17 years of dedication and service to Alabama USA Gymnastics. Speaking about her service to gymnastics were Mississippi State Chair Nancy Lay and Alabama State Committee member Mike Holdefer.
